A.R. Rahman’s directorial debut, Le Musk, is a virtual reality cinematic experience. This musically immersive, English language movie, was filmed in Rome and is being produced by Ideal Entertainment, Thenandal Studio Limited, Zilvermeer Productions and Intel.
LeMusk follows the journey of an orphaned child, Juliet, full-time heiress and part-time musician, who grows up to be a diva on a mission. All throughout, she has one constant companion - the lingering Muskan scent.
The olfactory technology which disperses scent during Le Musk was developed by Grace Boyle’s London-based company, Feelies. The concept to create a film about scent and perfumes, meanwhile, came about from Saira Banu, A.R. Rahman’s wife, who plays an integral part in his career.
The result is a film which incorporates scent as part of the screenplay and a combination of other sensory experiences to take viewers to places they have never been before. The film has already created quite a buzz with its prelude debuting at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, as part of the Intel Keynote, in collaboration with PVR Cinemas at their new VR lounge in Noida, Uttar Pradesh and with Samsung via Samsung VR.
